NetZero Video Mail

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

happy_man.jpgToday (August 28th, 2007) NetZero has announced the arrival of “Video Mail”. This enables NetZero users to attach a personal video to their e-mail and easily send it to anyone, anywhere in the world. A person who receives an e-mail from someone with video mail will not have to download the video to watch it.

Instead the video is in the browser itself eliminating a need to download. This is also a good feature because large attachments can often get marked as spam. This way, there is no problem in sending the mail.

Fortunately, video mail will be available to both NetZero’s free and paying customers. However, the free service customers will be limited to a 3 minute video, while the paying customers can have longer videos.

So now NetZero has done it again, this time making it much easier to e-mail videos to your friends, family, and associates.

This is just another reason to sign up for NetZero. They are always offering new special features such as this one and often for free. NetZero is an internet service provider that cares a lot about their customers.

NetZero as a Backup

Monday, August 27th, 2007

NetZero has always been sure to offer a very reliable connection. Rather it be their Platinum service, 3G HiSpeed service, or DSL, NetZero has always been there without problems.

Since they are so reliable, many people are starting to use them as a backup provider. During thunderstorms and at other times, people have reported their other internet service providers connection goes out or slows down to an unusable speed. These people have said that while their other ISP’s connection was unavailable, their NetZero connection has still worked reliably.

So now many people are signing up for the free 10 hours a month or even NetZero Platinum to have a reliable backup connection in case their primary connection fails.

Not only are NetZero’s services reliable, they are also affordable. So using NetZero as your primary or backup ISP is not expensive at all. If it is important to always have a solid connection, NetZero is a great solution.

Choosing An ISP (Internet Service Provider)

Monday, August 20th, 2007

thinker.GIFWhen choosing an internet service provider, there are many important factors to consider. Among the more obvious are speed and price, but in all reality, this is only a small fraction of the whole picture. There are many other important factors to consider.

E-mail is a big factor. What kind of special e-mail features does the service offer? How many accounts does the provider offer? Does it have SPAM blocker and a virus protection. If so, how much does all this cost, or is it free?

More important options are does the service offer a web blocking option to protect your children? It also might not be a bad idea to make a customer service call before signing up to see how quickly and conveniently they respond.

If you are signing up for dial-up, are there many local access numbers, and what kinds of different services does the ISP offer? Is it cable so you have to share bandwidth with the whole block, or DSL so you can have dedicated bandwidth? If the ISP offers several different services, it will make it easier to upgrade later if necessary and keep current e-mail addresses.

NetZero does a great job with these qualifications and offers reliable connections for a fraction of the cost. Check out the latest deals now and look into all the features offered with each service!

NetZero DSL Prefered Over Cable Internet?

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

netzerodsl.gifIt has become clearly obvious that many people are preferring to use NetZero DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) over cable internet. Many people can’t fathom why anyone would prefer to use a DSL service over a cable provider since the highest speeds available today are through cable internet. The deeper story is that in reality, DSL has many advantages over cable that are very important to know about.

The first HUGE benefit that DSL has over cable is that DSL is dedicated, unlike cable which bandwidth is dependent upon how many users are “using” it. So if there are a lot of people that use cable internet near your house, your cable connection is guaranteed to slow down.

Because DSL is dedicated, it is more secure than cable. Cable, since it uses a shared medium is much more vulnerable to online theft, eavesdropping, and a number of other pits.

There are many other reasons why DSL, more often than not, is preferred over cable internet. Protection and dependency are just a few. DSL prices have also dropped considerably often making it quite a bit cheaper that cable. Right now NetZero offers a high quality 1.5Mbps DSL connection for as low as $17.95 a month for the first 3 months and only $19.95 a month after that.

United Online Growing

Friday, August 10th, 2007

profit.gifThe results for the second quarter came in this week and it looked to be a very strong one for United Online. United Online was formed in 2001 when NetZero acquired it’s rival Juno Online Services and the two companies merged. The company’s current CEO is Mark Goldston.

Content & Media Revenues have increased 29% this quarter and thus there was a record growth of 278,000 content & media pay accounts. United Online has shown much much growth since it was created and with the close of another strong quarter the company will continue to grow.

This shows that NetZero continues to be a successful division and continues to grow in terms of number of customers. NetZero was founded in 1998 and has been a successful company since the beginning. It continues to offer great internet service at a fraction of the price of other internet service providers and is becoming more and more successful as they continue to offer new innovative service at great prices.

NetZero From The Beginning

Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

dinocomp.jpgI remember very well when NetZero launched their first free, ad-based internet service. I was still living at home in those days, and remember my parents signed up for it immediately. It was a great service for the price — free. When the free hours every month became limited, it didn’t take long for them to switch over to Platinum. For me, that was a pretty enjoyable service. Unlimited access and the ad-banner was gone. It was perfect for the house.

Here we are nearly 10 years later. I have long since left the nest, and my parents are still using a United Online dial-up service. I was very excited when NetZero DSL was released thinking that they would switch over, but they didn’t. For their needs, dial-up is still more than adequate. When I mention that for just a few dollars a month, they could have a DSL internet connection, they just say, “no, dial-up is good enough for us.” And they’re right, for what they use the computer for, there is no point in paying extra money every month.

Although I give them a hard time for being “pre-historic”, their dial-up connection is still more than enough to do the things they do from home. Such as looking around on Craigslist or just checking e-mail. It’s a good evidence that there will still be a need for dial-up down the road. When I visit every once in a while I am able to do the basic things I need to do on their computer. Dial-up still works.

One thing is for sure. No matter what kind of connection they choose to use in the future, they will always be loyal to United Online, just as they have been in the past. It simply is one of the most innovative internet service providers out there.
